Planting the Seeds of God’s Love
What a GREAT week everyone had getting “Rooted and Grounded in God’s Love” at Pisgah’s Bible Camp this year. The kids had a blast with creative arts and crafts, fun filled games, horseback rides, exciting music and of course they even learned about God’s love. Each day Bible Camp started with a tasty dinner that the different session committees as well as Troop 1784 and Mary Shepherd Circle supplied. With bellies full, the group moved to the sanctuary for a wonderful Bible story that was cleverly created by our own church members. After the Bible story time, children and adults participated in music, crafts, recreation and some class time. It was a lot of fun to see many new smiling faces from the community as well as all of our regular Pisgah youth and family members.
A BIG congratulations goes out to everyone who brought in their donations for the “Green Forest Works for Appalachia” project. Well over $500.00 was collected throughout the week. The money was used to plant over 1,000 trees in Kentucky’s Appalachia area. At the closing ceremony a Ginko tree was planted on Pisgah property near the playground. If you haven’t seen this tree please stop by to take a look at it. Any child who attended Bible Camp would be glad to point it out to you.
Thanks to the leadership of Ann Hayes, camp ran like clockwork. Of course, Ann couldn’t have done it without the wonderful help of all her committee members. Another big thanks goes out to the many volunteers who came each night and welcomed the children, brought delicious food, prepared the Bible story, led or assisted the various activities and, of course, those that set up and cleaned up afterwards. A good time was had by all as a result of everyone’s amazing effort. Thanks again Ann and all of those involved. We will all be looking forward to next year’s Bible Camp. (Ann has already agreed to head up Pisgah’s Bible Camp for 2012.) YEAH!!
Good times, great people, delicious food and, of course, learning about being, “ROOTED AND GROUNDED IN GOD’S LOVE” made Pisgah Bible Camp of 2011 a huge success.
