My face itches…for a cause!

16

Ahhh….the things we’ll do for a good cause!

A few weeks ago, Jud Davis, a member of our congregation living with stage 4 lung cancer approached me with a concern, and an idea.

His concern: The lack of resources/support for men living with cancer (especially when compared with women).

His idea: Beards for Buds (buddies, not beers)

So, for the next 7 week, until Fat Tuesday, a group of us here at Pisgah, as well as some friends from Maxwell Street Presbyterian in Lexington are growing beards.  That’s right no shaving for 7 weeks….it’s only been 2 days…

Ahhh….the things we do for a good cause!  But, you know what, it is a VERY small price to pay to raise awareness, and hopefully some funds for the American Cancer Society ear-marked specifically for men’s research/support.  You can help.

You can sponsor one of us…

You can share this link with friends…

You can grow a beard with us in solidarity…

What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done for a good cause?

Did I mention that my face itches?

Peace,

Pete

Love it. Also thought you’d appreciate knowing that Bud has quite the beard these days. He turns 21 next month. Beard for Bud, indeed!

By the way, you can donate online at:

Just be sure to designate “Beards for Buds” under “Giving Purpose”.

    Thanks!

Bruce is in too (much to the chagrin of his mother). We would love to be a part of cake bake – or a dessert auction might be fun too.

Woohoo! We’ll see what comes out of this, but there is a great deal of energy around it. Loving it!

Awesome Scott! Woody, Kyle, Jim G., Rich C., are the ones I am aware of….

Maybe the women of the two churches could sponsor a cake bake or something to raise support to add to what the beards raise. Ann and Art. (Art can’t grow a good beard but he bakes very good cakes!)

After seeing Tavner skip shaving one day during vacation, I’m relieved he’s not showing his support in this fashion, but we’re “in” in every other way. Re: the suggestion to share this link, is there a Share link I’m not seeing?

I guess I’m not savvy enough for that Susan….I think I meant to share it the old fashioned way:)

        Pete

Social Media is now a part of all blogs. Go to the bottom of the article and you will see “Twitter” “Facebook” ‘LinkedIn” and a few may not even be aware of.

        Please give it a whirl

Wonderful idea. I can imagine your face does itch! Can’t grow a beard but will let others know of your good cause. I will sponsor you for $50. How do I get this to you? Good luck and I want to see picture after seven weeks.

How spoiled is the boy? I know the girls have helped with this!

    Blessings to you and yours,

    Frankie
