Mission of Pisgah Presbyterian Church
Brief Church Mission Statement
Worship God, study the scriptures and practice the teachings of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
The congregation’s vision for ministry:
Jesus Christ is our model and inspiration. We strive to fulfill the greatest commandment: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart…and, love your neighbor as yourself.” We reach beyond our walls, proclaim the Good News, and serve the needs of our local and global community. Looking to the future, we honor our congregation’s 233 year heritage of service, striving to reach a better understanding of how God is calling us to serve in this time and place.
Our vision is reinforced through worship; mission, as we share God’s love in service to the world; discipleship, as we nurture and share spiritual development; fellowship, as we love and care for one another.
We live out our vision in a multitude of ways, utilizing the diverse talents of our people, guided by the Holy Spirit. We glorify God through a variety of worship opportunities. World Communion Sunday is held outdoors, under the canopy of God’s sanctuary. Our cemetery provides the tranquil setting for the Easter Sunrise Service. The youth of Pisgah plan and lead a Sunday service. Children’s church gives an age appropriate introduction to adult worship. What is special and unique about Pisgah happens each Sunday before the service. We enter the Lord’s house with thanksgiving to make a joyful noise! Scooting from pew to pew, visiting and meeting new comers, we wave, we smile, we introduce, we laugh-we’re a rowdy bunch! Once the organ signals the start of service, we scatter to our pews and prepare for worship.
